Opening Your Above Ground Pool
April 8, 2020
Tips for Doing the Job Yourself

It’s almost that time of year; your kids are begging to go for a swim, the sun is reaching that sweet spot in the sky, and the bathing suits in the back of your closet are calling your name. While this season might be a bit different than others past, swimming pools can still help keep everyone cool and occupied when the warm weather hits.
Opening your above ground pool can be frustrating, however, without the proper expertise and experience. Luckily, our team at A Frame Imperial Pools is here to walk you through the process.
1. Remove Your Winter Cover
Assuming that you properly closed your pool down before the winter season, the first obvious step is to carefully remove it from your pool’s surface. Use a small pump to remove excess water that may have accumulated over time, and slowly remove the cover to prevent old leaves from falling in.
2. Check all Equipment
Once your cover is removed, check your equipment for leaks or cracks that may have sprouted during the off season. It’s important to patch and repair any small issues before filling your pool to prevent flooding, to decrease the likelihood of further damage and to save you money in the long run.
3. Add Water
Once repairs are made, it’s time to hook up the hose. At this time, be sure to replace any pump and filter drain plugs you may have removed at the end of last season.
4. Clean Your Pool
For any dirt and debris that has made its way into your pool before or throughout this process, work to remove it with a skimmer, leaf rake and other gentle equipment. Be sure to watch out for your liner so as not to cause any damage in the process.
5. Test and Adjust Chemicals
Once your swimming pool is full of clean water, you can finally add and balance the chemistry of its chemicals.

A few of these benefits include the following: Reducing Arthritis: Hot tubs help relieve the pain and stiffness that’s often associated with arthritis. The warm water reduces joint swelling and may provide increased mobility. This alternative therapy can help you get through the day naturally. Relieves Stress: The hustle and bustle of our everyday lives can wear on our mental state over time. When this happens, we need to practice self-care, and what better way than naturally? Soaking in a hot tub at the end of the day can help you unwind and reset your mind. It allows your body to float aimlessly and relax, ultimately improving your psychological state. Improves Sleep: Approximately 25 percent (1 in 4 individuals) of the population suffers from insomnia. This may be due to the constant stress and concerns we experience through work, school, or family life. The lack of sleep will only contribute to irritability and stress, thus revolving in a vicious cycle. However, through soaking in the warm water of a hot tub, your muscles, nerves, and mind are able to de-stress, allowing your body to submit to sleep. Soaking for a short time before bed can make all the difference in the quality of your sleep that night.
